The new Super-9 disc excels in races won on full-throttle power. Intended for time trials, track racing, and the occasional Tour de France prologue, the Super-9 is stiffer than our 900 disc and matches the Sub-9’s remarkable ability to generate forward lift when paired with our Tangente tire. Whereas the Sub-9 achieved this feat by incorporating Zipp’s patented toroidal bulged rim shape to match the Zipp Tangente tire, the Super-9 creates the same level of aero performance with a flat-sided design that is 27.5mm throughout. With a slightly wider 23mm tire bed, the Super-9 is able to provide superb aerodynamics with tires up to 23mm while offering ample chainstay clearance for even the tightest aero frames. Note: integrated aero rear brakes in some frames may present clearance issues; please check fit with brake before purchasing. The Super-9’s hub features the stiff 17mm axles of the 188 road hub along with adjustable bearing preload with the industry’s only aero preload nut. The standard version of the Super-9 weighs less than 1,000 grams and is convertible between road and track setups. Note: valve stem must be at least 45mm. The Sub-9's highlights so far include Ironman 70.3 World Championships for Andy Potts and Terenzo Bozzone, and a yellow jersey for Fabian Cancellara. We expected nothing less from the ultimate aerodynamic breakthrough. In the center of the aero "sweet spot" – a wind angle of 12 to 18 degrees – the Zipp Sub-9 was the first wheel ever to produce forward lift, when paired with our 21mm Tangente tire. To achieve this feat, we added a toroidal bulge similar to our 1080 and 808 spoked wheels around the edge of the disc to control airflow at the wheel’s leading and trailing edges. In addition to improving aero performance, the bulge’s vertical compliance keeps the Sub-9 glued to the road when cornering and yields a comfortable ride. This makes it the ideal choice for long-course triathletes to bounce out of T2 with fresh legs after a blistering bike split. For decades, an obsession with aerodynamics has influenced everything from wheels to water bottles. But with the Sub-9 disc, we moved from minimizing drag to maximizing propulsion. Rather than post-bonding a rim around a flat or lenticular disc, we've incorporated our patented toroidal rim shape and used our proprietary M2CM technology to increase strength while reducing drag around the interface of aluminum and carbon. For long course triathletes, the bulged cross-section offers a comfortable vertical compliance that can reduce fatigue during long stretches in the saddle. Using the PowerTap version of the 900 clincher, Jordan Rapp posted the fastest bike split at Wildflower and a win at Ironman Canada in 2009. With the ease of clinchers and optimal aerodynamics for tires up to 23mm, the 900 Clincher is the perfect choice on less-than-perfect road surfaces.

Although it doesn’t quite match the aero performance of the Super-9 and Sub-9, the Zipp 900 disc was still fast enough to be the choice of Cervélo TestTeam for the 2009 Tour de France and for Kristin Armstrong’s victory in the 2008 Olympic time trial. At just 936g with a cassette hub, the 900 is more than light enough for the hilliest triathlon or time trial courses. Swap the road setup for a track configuation, and the same wheel is ready for action at the highest levels of the sport. Now that's versatility. The 1080 Clincher takes advantage of Zipp's M2CM technology. It's the most advanced method to join carbon and aluminum, and it results in a nearly bombproof rim with the convenience of a clincher and the reliability of an aluminum braking surface. Lest we forget, the 1080 Clincher also features the most aerodynamic non-disc rim in the world. Please Note: The Zipp 1080 rim is not compatible with the PowerTap hub. This is due to the severe spoke angle caused by the very large flange of the PT hub combined with the very small ERD of the 1080 rim. This combination results in an overly severe spoke angle at the rim/spoke interface in a built wheel. This leads to premature nipple and spoke thread failures at cycle counts far below the Zipp minimum requirement for fatigue durability. Zipp will not build this combination and will void the rim warranty on any 1080 rim built onto any PowerTap hub. Our recommendation is a Sub9 with PowerTap for the 1080 tubular and 900 clincher disc with PowerTap for the 1080 clincher. But if you’ve ever poured yourself into a time trial or a bike leg, then you’ve shared an experience with rising triathlon star Linsey Corbin and Olympic time trial champion Fabian Cancellara. On their bikes, you’ll find the 108mm-deep Zipp 1080, the world’s fastest non-disc wheel. To improve upon the previous holder of that title, our 81mm-deep 808, we tested and retested a range of prototypes for the 1080 before settling on fully toroidal shape that blends 5 distinct curves to smooth airflow. This new profile, which we’ve since applied to the 808 and other wheels in our line, makes the 1080 nearly 30 seconds faster over 40km than a three-spoke wheel but generates no additional side force in a crosswind. Plus, with our Carbon Bridge technology for impact resistance and external spoke nipples for serviceability, the 1080 Tubular gives you pure speed without a hint of delicacy. Despite its depth, the 1080 was light enough for Fabian to dominate Beijing’s hilly time trial course and so stable that a smaller rider like Linsey could use it in Kona. The clincher version of the 404 utilizes the same go-anywhere, win-anything 58mm rim depth of the tubular model but offers the everyday convenience of clincher tires and the reliability of an aluminum brake track. For greater strength and reliability, Zipp's M2CM technology fuses the aluminum hoop to the inner carbon section during the molding process. Still, the 404 clincher’s 1658g total weight is less than many full-carbon clinchers. Of course, none of those other wheels offer Zipp’s exclusive features like ABLC dimples, VCLC vibration-reduction technologies, and the smooth, stiff, durable 88/188 hubset.
