The Challenge Criterium Nerone tubular has all the properties of Challenge's Criterium Seta Classic, with one change. The casing is corespun polyester rather than silk. The benefit is you get a beautiful, easy-rolling, high-performing tubular without having to invest your personal energy into the care of silk tire casings. We're usually mentally and physically drained at the end of races and don't always have the energy or presence of mind to bother with drying our tires, so we see the Criterium Nerone as an easy alternative.

As with the Seta, the Criterium Nerone is a handmade tire, with the tread glued on to the casing when it is under pressure. The tread is thus in a neutral state when the tire is under full pressure, causing no deformation of the tread. The result is better grip. The tread offers a layer of protection underneath it; a thin belt of casing is sandwiched between the tread and the casing, thus offering a layer of flat protection while still giving the tire plenty of suppleness.

The tread itself is also shared with the Seta. Longitudinal ribs down the center, with herringbone on either side. The fine ribs give plenty of grip while allowing the tire to work around the fine grit and detritus that is typically on the road. They also help the tread cut through water when the road is wet.

The Challenge Criterium Nerone tubular is available in 700c x 22mm only. It has Challenge's Puncture Protection System (PPS). The casing is corespun polyester. The casing has 300 threads per inch (TPI). Inside the casing is a latex tube. While the tire has been tested to 200psi, most people will probably ride pressures between 110-130psi. The tire has a Black tread and Black casing.
